Common issue/s observed in Barangay Santor by the residents
Whenever someone asks me where I live, I'm unsure what to answer. Should I say Tikay or Santor? Because those barangays are parallel to each other, people don't even know Santor, just Tikay. I thought that Santor was part of Tikay, but both barangays are different — Santor is not part of Tikay. Since I live in Santor, Malolos Bulacan, this is my chosen community.
Brgy. Santor is considered a small population, but there are still problems observed by the residents who reside in a subdivision, even with a tiny population. The residents' ages range from 18-47 years old (this gives a view of who answered the survey).
The issues addressed in my survey are no proper display of garbage and sanitation. Seven of my respondents answered no accurate garbage display, while six answered sanitation. As I read, they chose this issue as the problem in our barangay because they care about people's health.
The eight respondents who answered my survey had a similar suggestion to prioritize the proper garbage display. To give a background of our subdivision (which I won't name for pure confidentiality to my respondents and me), an area beside us burns trash. So, one of the respondents addressed this problem since burning trash cause heavy black fumes, a health hazard. When it comes to sanitation, one respondent is unsure if it's under sanitation. Still, she would want the smell of creek/industrial/cigarette plant addressed because she's worried it would affect people.
It's common for every barangay to have no proper display of garbage and sanitation, but that does not mean we'll normalize the problem. Physical health still matters. And residing in such a town where waste is not in its proper place, and inadequate sanitation could affect people's health, especially children.
