Figure 1: Location of Malis
Malis is a barangay in the Municipality of Guiguinto. This was led by Cezar Landayan Mendoza. Based on the 2020 Census, its population reached 16,851.
I lived here ever since I was born. My mom used to tell me that this barangay was so beautiful and peaceful before. They can breathe fresh air because they were surrounded by big trees. The river was clean too. I remember that I also tried riding a boat, same day where my father and eldest brother used to swim on the river. But everything changed as time passes. I heard so many complaints from different households. I can't stand it anymore and as a concerned citizen, I want to raise this kind of issue to barangay officials. Therefore I thought, why not interview some citizens that I know here in our community? I asked 9 different people what are the issues they want to address and why.
Figure 2: Respondents' Age, Gender, and Profession
The pictogram shows the number of female and male respondents. It is clearly stated that I have a total of 9 interviewees: 4 male and 5 female. The bar chart shows that the age of them ranges from 19 to 32 years old. Lastly, the pie chart reveals that most of my respondents are still students, the others are working and some are none.
Figure 3: A table of respondents' issues
The table shows that the respondents almost had the same issue. On the next figure, I'll show you more accurate data using a line chart.
Figure 4: Shows the total number in each complaint using line chart
There are 2 complaints regarding dogs without owners, 1 for water drainage issues, 3 for road defects and wrong parking. The chart also shows 2 people complained about teenagers roaming around the community every midnight, noise pollution, and lack of strict protocols. There are also issues that may affect our environment like high tide and smoke from factories.
Conclusion: Based on the survey that I did, I therefore conclude that there are unforeseen problems by the barangay officials. The road defect was an old cry by the community but nothing improved. Sitio Tuklas was always hoping for better environment especially when the river is on high tide but no one in the higher position tried to make the sitio clean, even the smell is not pleasing to the nose. They should also assign some people to roam around barangay just to check if there are teens wandering in the middle of the night.
But we should not blame everything to the officials, there are also complaints that can be resolved and done by the community only. Just like the "wrong parking" issue, we should not buy any vehicles if we don't have enough space or garage. Let's be cooperative and let's not just complain, we must make a move too and everyone should be responsible enough if we want to bring back the aesthetic of Malis.
