For the Part 2 of my recent blog (I choose Issue: Addressing the issues/problems of the citizens in Santa.Maria Bulacan). This time, I interviewed 2 local officials with in the community of Santa.Maria, the SK-chairman of Barangay Pulong Buhangin – Sir Daren and the councilor - Sir Froilan. I asked them the same question I raised from part 1 but this time not only as citizen living in Santa.Maria but also as local officials. I decided to ask the SK-chairman because base on my blog 1, most of my respondents there are students and currently living in Barangay Pulong Buhangin and I think this will help if they have the same issue/problem that want to address. Also, I ask one of the councilors of Santa.Maria to know if he has the same issue/problem that citizen have.

Table 1 shows the basic profile of the local officials. They gave their permission to add it in here. This profile includes their name, gender, age, address, educational attainment and profession. Respondent number 1 named Daren, a 23 years old male who’s currently living in Santa.Maria, studied civil engineering and SK chairman in barangay Pulong Buhangin. Respondent number 2 named Froilan, a 40 years old male who’s also living in Santa.Maria and currently one of the councilors. I chose sir Daren to represent the ‘kabataan’ sector and to know if he has the same issue/problem that students addressed in my recent blog. Lastly, I chose councilor Froilan to know if he also observed the same issue/problem that addressed by the citizen of Santa.Maria.

Table number 2 shows the respondents’ addressed issue/problem. Respondent number 1 which is the SK-chairman addressed the problem on how to do proper waste management, “improper collection of waste, this in turn leads to hazards like environmental degradation, water pollution, and air pollution” he said. Respondent number 2 which is the councilor raised three issues/problems that he observed around Santa.Maria. The heavy traffic, damage main roads, and waste mismanagement. “Whenever there is a heavy traffic, I feel that my time was being stolen from me. I feel unproductive as a professional because of the time consumed in the road. Also, the cracked main road makes our travel unease and makes the vehicles more susceptible to damage. While waste mismanagement affects our health and this society” he said.

Table 3 shows tally of responses. Two occurred the problem of waste management, one for heavy traffic and one for damage main roads. We see that the both of them experienced or observed the problem in waste management which same as the occurrence of my last blog.
Thus, Both local officials and normal citizens experience almost the same issues/problem which is waste management but their difference is local officials has solutions while the citizens give only their opinion to lessen the problem.
