Paano A-ANGAT ang bayan ko? ; Community Issues Pt. 2 ( Baranggay Officials Point of View )

Do barangay officials see what citizens see in our community issues?

The interview was conducted through an online platform. As long as I want to do it face-to-face, but the officials are all busy campaigning. I messaged 10 barangay officials I know, but unfortunately, there were only two who responded to my message. Before gathering the interview, I asked the two respondents if it was okay to interview them, and they said yes. I also asked if they were comfortable with sharing their personal information, and they willingly said yes.

In the first blog, we talked about the citizen's point of view on our community issues in Angat, Bulacan. Most of their answers fall under the environmental issues, and now we will be talking about our barangay officials here in Sta. Cruz Angat, Bulacan, point of view about our community issues.

Respondent 1: Mille Dv. Cruz, 40 years old

He has been the Baranggay Sta. Cruz Kagawad for more than four years now, and he graduated from high school and lives in Sta. Cruz Angat, Bulacan.

Mr. Mille stated that the main issue in our community is waste. He said that a lot of Angateos throw their garbage anywhere, particularly on the road. He also said that they usually put up a sign saying "BAWAL MAGTAPON DITO," but he insisted that there were still a lot of citizens who disobeyed them.

Respondent 2: Renato B. Cruz III, 39 years old

He is Banggay Sta. Cruz Tanod, two years from now. He is an undergraduate in automotives and is currently living in Sta. Cruz Angat, Bulacan.

He also answered that the main issue in our community is none other than the issue of waste. Mr. Renato said that every baranggay has the same issue with waste and the cause is the disobedience of people.

Do barangay officials see what citizens see in our community issues?

Both respondents from citizens and barangay officials have the same point of view about our community's issues. The following issues that they stated are: improper waste disposal and disobedience of citizens, while the citizens said that we need another truck for collecting waste as well as the collectors.

Why is proper waste disposal important in every community? According to Dee Mohammed, the protection of the environment and the population's health are the most significant reasons for waste collection. Garbage can pollute the air and water, and garbage that is left to rot emits hazardous fumes that mix with the air and create respiratory difficulties in humans. Waste management and recycling collection can aid in the preservation of our planet's natural beauty, which can be harmed by careless waste disposal, fly-tipping, and littering.

As one of the citizens of Baranggay Sta. Cruz Angat, Bulacan, in my opinion citizens and government are the problems. That is why we have environmental issues in our community. We can't resolve this issue if the citizens are not disciplined enough to do proper waste disposal. We need to educate our community about proper disposal methods and not only have a penalty for people who throw garbage in restricted areas. We also need government assistance so that we can provide another truck waste collector in our community. As I will answer the title of this blog, "Paano A-Angat ang bayan ko?" Community issues can only be resolved if both citizens and baranggay officials help each other for a better community. We can't resolve anything if we both point each other to an issue that we all created.
