Every community has its own issues. It is only up to those who are part of the community if they would want these issues to be solved or not.
In the case of the community of Barangay Balangkas, the members of their youth were interviewed (in reference to Blog 1), to be able to know what issues they encountered that they are willing to address. The result showed that the most common issues that were raised are about Social Welfare — uprising unemployment rate, no proper family education, lack of essential projects, incomplete medical facilities as well as slow responses with regard to health emergencies. Following this is the issue of Road Management — no public spaces, pavements and cables damage, and flood and traffic congestion.
In reference to the results of the data gathered on Blog 1, it indicated that the majority of the citizens, particularly the youth, are experiencing Social Welfare issues but these are yet to be addressed by the local officials.
In relation to this, a survey was also conducted among the local officials of the said community, which was the Sangguniang Kabataan ng Barangay Balangkas. It was to know if the youth and the local officials share the same thoughts on the problem they want to address in their community. This was also to compare and analyze the data collected. The selection of respondents was based on the proximity of the survey, and also the availability of the local officials at the time of the survey. Adding to this, considering that the respondents of the previous survey are members of the youth, it would be more applicable to get the thoughts of the officials who are also part of the youth, which are the SK.
In order to gather the interviewees' information and their thoughts about the issues they wanted to address, a survey was administered through an online method with the help of Google Forms. At the time of the survey, only two SK officials were able to share their time to answer the survey conducted. Hence, there were only two respondents, who also provided two different responses.
One of the SK officials wanted the issue of Social Welfare to be addressed such as unemployment, out-of-school youth, and poverty. Whereas, the other official confessed the issue of Road Management, specifically on streets and roadways lightings.
Based on their answers, it shows that the youth and the local officials share the same thoughts on the problems they want to address in their community. Throughout the entire survey, it can be concluded that there is a prevailing issue in the aforementioned community mainly about social welfare, but it is yet to be addressed and both the citizens and officials are aware of this issue going on. Likewise, the community has been faced with the issue of social welfare for quite some time now. There was no discourse between the citizens and officials about this issue, rather they blame each other for the existence of such problems in the community.
Furthermore, in light of these facts, as both parties want these issues to be addressed means that they also want these issues to be resolved. Still, neither of them take action and mitigate the roots of their problems for them to be solved.
