TITLE/TOPIC PROPOSAL: Are You Ready to Dive in?: A Report Regarding the Extreme Pollution Present in the Meycauayan River.
Meycauayan River is part of the Marilao-Meycauayan-Obando River System or MMORS, which is considered one of the dirtiest and dead river systems globally. With the river identified to have extreme pollution, it greatly affects the people in the community in terms of environmental and health aspects.
RATIONALE
In my first blog, which tackles the problems that the citizens within the community of Meycauayan want to resolve, the top problem that resulted from the survey is the environmental issue present in the area. The results from the blog serve as a basis for the chosen topic in this proposal. To have a more specific scope, I focus on a relevant issue that Meycauayan City is still facing: pollution in the Meycauayan River. This topic can be a great doorstep to recognize the people's voice in the community as they want to address the environmental issue present in the area they live and breathe in. With this, everyone can have insights or ideas of what is really happening in the community's dead river.
The proposed topic aims to provide information about the causes behind the pollution in the Meycauayan River. This is to know why the river continuously suffers extreme pollution primarily.
After knowing the causes, it also wants to know the effects of pollution on the environment and the health of the people living in the community.
With all the present causes and effects, it also has a purpose to find out if people and the government in the community are doing actions to lessen the pollution issue on the Meycauayan River.
This can serve as an eye-opener to all the people to always consider saving our environment in order for us not to experience worst-case scenarios.
The story needs enough information to answer and suffice the rationale. In gathering information, a minimum of three (3) and a maximum of five (5) residents living near the Meycauayan River will be interviewed. They will be asked about how long they have lived near the said river, what they think are the causes of the river's pollution and their experiences upon living there, are they doing actions to help lessen the pollution in the water, etc. A minimum of two (2) and a maximum of four (4) local or barangay officials will also be interviewed. They will be asked about how much they are aware of the experiences and effects the people in the community are facing about the issue, do they have any plans or current projects that actually help the rehabilitation of the river, etc. The participants will also be asked to describe the Meycauayan River in just one word and if they see any hope for the river to have less pollution. The documentation will also include actual pictures of the Meycauayan River today.
