Topic: Improper Solid Waste Management in Angat, Bulacan

Ever since Pandemic starts, Waste collectors in Angat only visits once a month and improper waste management increase more. Improper waste disposal is when waste is disposed of in a way that is harmful to the environment (Liittering, hazardous garbage placed in the ground, and not recycling items that should be recycled ) are just a few examples. According to N. Ejaz, N. Akhtar, H. Nisar & U. Ali Naeem, Infectious diseases, land and water contamination, drain obstructions, and biodiversity loss are all possible consequences of an ineffective municipal solid waste management system.
Rationale:
- Exposing in a Community that has no proper waste disposal can affect the citizens health, it can cause blood infections, respiratory problems, skin irritations, reproductive issues and growth problem. - Implementing trash bins to avoid overflowing waste. Often or no waste collection can cause an overflowing waste. While overflowing waste outcome is air pollution that causes various respiratory diseases and other adverse health effects as contaminants are absorbed from lungs into other parts of the body. - This blog will serve as an awareness to the citizens of Angat, Bulacan. Sharing Environmental awareness can help citizens to understand the fragility of our environment and the importance of its protection. - This cannot only help the environment but also help the community to build a better future for everyone.
Explanation:
Angat Bulacan has been facing some issues, and one of them is environmental issues, which up until now haven't found any long-term solutions. As a citizen for twenty years and counting in Angat, Bulacan, I have come up with a possible solution that can resolve this issue. Lately, during the pandemic strike, a lot of things have changed. Flights have been canceled, markets have been shut down, tourist attractions have been curtailed, and waste pickup has been reduced to once a month, whereas before the pandemic, waste collection was every week. According to At A Glance (AAG), in 2016, Region 3 produced 3,890.12 tons of waste per day. So, if garbage is not collected within a month, it can accumulate to 120,593.72 tons of waste.
To pursue the story, (1) I need to Perform another Survey with the Citizens. In order to pursue the story, I will conduct another survey. Due to the pandemic, I will just create a google form and select at least 10 citizens of Angat to answer online. The survey contains a reference to their views on this issue of our barangay. It is better to prioritize the opinion of the people before approaching the Barangay to find out if the majority of the citizens of Angat are experiencing or want to solve this issue with garbage and to find out what else they have grievances about it. (2) Get the opinion of Barangay Officials. After the survey of the citizens of Angat conducted through online, I will get the opinion of the Barangay officials regarding the answers, views or grievances of the people on the garbage problem here in Angat. Since the barangay officials are busy with the upcoming election, I can go to the barangay and have a face -to -face interview about the survey I gathered. I just need maybe 2 Barangay Officials in the interview to get their perspective and plans they have for this issue. (3) After getting all of the answers both Citizens and Barangay Officials, I will now analyze the data and make some graphs, defining both sides opinions, etc. Through this blog I can help citizens to hear them out by the Local Government. This is environmental issues, this is important and this is need to be address as soon as possible. For me, having just a penalty is not enough for people to learn how to properly waste disposal. One of my objectives is to give the local government an idea on how to resolve this issue for the community. Pursuing this story might be difficult because of the current situation and busy schedules but as a citizen journalist, I'll do my best to pursue the story and be the voice of citizens to government.
