Addressing Solid Waste Management and focusing more on it will be a big help to save our environment for the future generation. Other problems in terms of health, pollution, flood, and lack of resources can also be prevented if we will take an action on this community issue immediately.
Rationale:
The issue is significant due to the current state of our environment which is already damaged.
Help the local government officials to create plans and long-term solutions to improve the environmental condition.
In addressing the said problem, we can prevent the other existing problems in the Municipality (e.g. Calumpit is a catch basin so we can also take an action on the flood issue as well).
Recognize the notions of the local government officials and the citizens in the community on how to address the problem immediately.
Finding the root cause of the issue to understand why the problem exists in the community.
Explanation:
In pursuing the Citizen Journalism Report, I decided to conduct it in the Municipality of Calumpit where I am currently living since the problem in Solid Waste Management, which I am also experiencing is very alarming and should be addressed. It is very relevant nowadays because of the current situation of our planet Earth.
Moreover, I am planning to interview those people who are directly experiencing the said problem and who can help the report be factual and informative. Preferably, ten (10) citizens in different barangays of Calumpit, three (3) local government officials, and two (2) garbage collectors will be my target respondents for the report. I will use different methods in conducting a survey. For the citizens, I will use Google Forms for the questions that I need to ask them and I will use Messenger to reach them. For the local officials, I am intending to conduct a face-to-face interview with them to have a formality and show professionalism. If a personal interview will be prohibited, I will use online apps like Zoom or Google Meet in order to conduct the interview. For the garbage collectors, I am also planning to interview them in a face-to-face manner for convenience. The respondents will be asked if they prefer to voice record, video record, or take down notes of their answers by the interviewer to show respect and practice the code of ethics. The data and other personal information will be kept confidential and only be used for academic purposes. Additionally, graphs, figures, pictures, and other visual representations will be used to show other important data that will be collected to make it more engaging and reliable.
